Company smartwatches usually arrive as part of something else: a field service rollout, a wellbeing programme, a batch of executive iPhones. When the phones are refreshed, the watches are often forgotten in a drawer, still paired to handsets that no longer exist and still locked to someone's Apple Account.

In short: to sell business smartwatches, list the models and quantities and send them to Everlink, on their own or together with your phone fleet. You quickly receive an itemised offer, collection is organised for you, every watch is wiped in compliance with the GDPR and the Swiss data protection act, and you are paid with an inventory, an erasure certificate and a Swiss QR invoice. Broken watches are accepted and valued for parts.

Which smartwatches we buy

Everlink buys company smartwatches of all brands, including Apple Watch (GPS and GPS + Cellular), Samsung Galaxy Watch and Wear OS watches. Watches can be sold as a standalone batch or added to a smartphone buyback, which is usually the simplest option since the two are retired together.

Condition on arrivalWhat happens
Working, clean screen and casingValued model by model, based on case size, connectivity, condition and battery health
Working, scratched screen or caseAccepted; wear is reflected in the grade of each line
Cracked screenAccepted, valued with the repair taken into account
Does not power on or chargeAccepted and valued for parts
Still paired or protected by Activation LockAccepted; the unlocking is worked through with you before the value is confirmed

There is no need to hunt for original boxes: hand the watches over as they are. The offer is based on your description and becomes firm after physical inspection on arrival.

How the buyback works

  1. Describe the watches. Models, GPS or cellular, quantities and rough condition, by email, on WhatsApp or through the form on this page. If they are going with a phone refresh, one list covering both is enough.
  2. Receive a fast offer. An itemised valuation, with no commitment.
  3. Collection, erasure and payment. Packing and transport are arranged by Everlink, in Switzerland and across Europe. Each watch is tested, wiped and recorded. The final offer is then confirmed and the transfer goes out in Swiss francs or euros, with a Swiss QR invoice, the standard Swiss payment slip since October 2022.

Preparing smartwatches before collection

You can hand watches over as they are, and Everlink handles resets and erasure. Smartwatches, however, have a trap that phones do not: they are tied to a phone as well as to an account, so the order in which things are done matters.

Apple Watch: unpair before the iPhone goes. Apple's guide on what to do before you sell or trade in an Apple Watch explains that unpairing from the iPhone turns off Activation Lock, once the Apple Account password has been entered. Apple's iPhone checklist also puts unpairing the Apple Watch before erasing the phone. Following that order avoids ending up with a watch still locked to an employee's Apple Account after their phone has gone.

Activation Lock. According to Apple, Activation Lock on Apple Watch turns on automatically when Find My is set up on the paired iPhone. If the watch is no longer with the user, Apple explains that it can still be erased and removed from Find My on iCloud.com. For watches your organisation owns, Apple's deployment guide states that a privileged user in Apple Business can turn off Activation Lock on an Apple Watch, both organisation-linked and user-linked.

Cellular models. For GPS + Cellular watches, Apple says the mobile subscription must be cancelled with the network provider, and that provider fees may apply.

Galaxy Watch and Wear OS. Google states that a factory reset on a Wear OS watch erases the data stored on the watch, installed apps and settings, and unpairs it from the phone. For Galaxy Watch, Samsung describes the reset through the Galaxy Wearable app: Watch settings, General, then Reset.

A shared list of serial numbers, and the name of the employee each watch was issued to, is enough to coordinate these steps with your team.

Data erasure and traceability

A watch holds less than a phone, but not nothing: notifications, contacts, calendar entries, sometimes health data and payment cards. Every watch taken back by Everlink is wiped in compliance with the GDPR and the Swiss revised Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP, also written nFADP). For readers abroad: this Swiss law requires personal data to be destroyed or anonymised once it is no longer needed (Article 6(4)), much as the GDPR does in the EU.

What you receive:

  • An erasure certificate per batch, issued to your company.
  • An inventory listing each watch by IMEI for cellular models, or by serial number for GPS-only models.
  • Tracking of each unit from buyback to resale.

If watches and phones leave together, both appear in the same inventory. Our article on IMEI tracking for trade-in inventories shows how to reconcile it with your records.

Watches are not an afterthought. A few dozen watches rarely justify a disposal process of their own. Everlink buys smartwatches, smartphones, tablets and business laptops in one operation, so the watches simply leave with the rest of the estate.

No workload for your teams. No portal, no individual shipments from each employee. A direct contact follows up by email or WhatsApp, and packing and transport are organised for you.

One partner in both directions. Everlink also supplies tested refurbished smartphones, tablets and computers with warranty included, so the replacement fleet can come from the same contact. Our corporate device buyback guide covers mixed batches in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Do you buy Apple Watches that are still locked to an employee's account?

Yes. Hand them over as they are. For company-owned watches, Activation Lock can be turned off in Apple Business; otherwise the employee unpairs the watch with their password. Everlink works through this with your IT team.

Is it worth selling a small number of smartwatches?

Yes, particularly alongside a phone refresh. The contact form starts at 1 to 20 devices, and the offer is built model by model.

Do broken smartwatches have any value?

Yes. Watches with cracked screens or that no longer charge are accepted and valued for parts.

What happens to the eSIM on cellular watches?

The watch is erased by Everlink. The mobile subscription itself must be cancelled with your network provider, as Apple points out.

Can watches from other countries be included?

Yes. Collections cover Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Benelux and beyond, with settlement in Swiss francs or euros.
